Summary | 0001574: Gm Page Causes Server To Crash [linux]
Description | After moving from our Windows Server to Linux (Debian) we noticed, that we weren't able to login to our SphereServer. Immediatly after a GM logged in, the Server crashed. When a player logged in, it crashed first after he was saying something ingame. The error was something like: Segementation fault Server unstable then it stopped. We've tried arround a lot to locate the Error, and finally it turned out, that the GM Pages are to blame. With a new spheredata.scp (without GM Pages) the server is working. After submitting a GM Page, the server crashed immediatly with the mentioned above Error if a GM logs in. Our current workaround is, that we've disabled GM Paging at all (which definately isn't a solution at all ) We've also tried to set up a whole new Sphere Server, with all the standard scripts / worldfile / accounts. There everything is working. Does anyone of you know this error? Unfortunately the error message is very unprecisely... We will do further tests on the upcoming weekend. I've got a few testcases floating around in my head, so i will post more details asap.

Check your experimental flags... Once I tried turning EF_Unicode on Ubuntu, it caused the same problem... EF_Unicode isn't supported on Linux Sphere... |

I couldn't reproduce this. If it still occurs on the latest automated build I will need more information (EF/OF flags) and ideally a copy of an offending spheredata.scp so I can reproduce the problem. |
